KABUL (Pajhwok): More than 358,085 metric tonnes of goods were transported through railways from four Afghan ports during the past one month, the Ministry of Public Works (MoPW) said on Monday.
On its X handle, MoPW spokesman Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas wrote these transportations took place during last month of 1403 solar year.
He said 274,852 tonnes of goods were transported through Hairatan Port, 14,727 tonnes via Aqina Port, 52,483 tonnes through Torghundi Port, and 16,023 tons via Khawaf-Herat, totaling 358,085 metric tonnes.
The shipments included 19,880 tonnes of transit and export goods, mostly quinoa, potatoes, dried fruits and pomegranate juice.
According to the spokesman, as the level of exports and imports through railways increase, more job opportunities will be created, national revenues will surge and the path towards economic stability, development, and self-sufficiency will be paved.
During the previous month, 414,883 metric tons of goods were transported via railways from Afghanistan’s four ports.
