KABUL (Pajhwok): In the hope of sealing a deal for TikTok’s sale, US President Donald Trump has suggested a cut in tariffs on China, a media report said on Thursday.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, the US leader signaled his willingness to extend the April 5 deadline for finding a non-Chinese buyer for short video app.
“With respect to TikTok, and China is going to have to play a role in that, possibly in the form of an approval, maybe, and I think they’ll do that,” the BBC quoted him as saying.
While expecting the outline of a deal being reached by April 5, the US president commented: “Maybe I’ll give them a little reduction in tariffs or something to get it done.”
In a move that could further fuel the global trade war, Trump also imposed new import taxes of 25% on all cars and auto parts coming into the US.
