KABUL (Pajhwok): About 174 Afghan nationals have arrived in Germany on a chartered flight from Pakistan, says a media report.
The flight, carrying 82 women and 92 men, landed at Hannover Airport on Thursday afternoon, as confirmed by the German Interior Ministry.
Deutsche Welle (DW) reported that all those arriving in Hannover had already been granted admission to Germany.
A spokesperson for the Interior Ministry said, “No new admissions are being issued. This is in line with Germany’s existing commitments.”
Reports from ongoing coalition negotiations between the conservative Christian Democrats (CDU/CSU) and the center-left Social Democrats (SPD) suggest that the two parties have agreed to bring the admissions program to a close.
Before Thursday’s flight, around 2,800 Afghans had already been granted admission to come to Germany.
