KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan’s Under-19 team has clinched the ODI series against Nepal, edging out a thrilling one-run victory in the second match to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Afghanistan won the toss and opted to bat first. Skipper Mahboob Taskin anchored the innings with a vital half-century, leading his side to a competitive total of 167 runs.
Taskin scored 58 runs, while Rahullah Arab contributed with 27 runs.
In response, Nepal’s chase fell agonizingly short as they were bowled out for 166 in the final over. Despite a strong effort, they were unable to get over the line.
For Afghanistan, the bowling attack was spearheaded by Zaitullah Shaheen, Wahidullah Zadran, and Zafizullah Zadran, each taking two wickets.
Rohullah Arab, Mahboob Taskin, and Uzairullah Niazi also made valuable contributions, each claiming one wicket.
In the series opener, Afghanistan had dominated Nepal, winning by a commanding 130-run margin.
The two teams will now face off in the third and final ODI on Wednesday.
