FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Construction work has been initiated on a 10-bed hospital dedicated to the treatment of malnourished children at a cost of 13 million afghanis in Parchaman district of western Farah province.
Funded by the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), the single-storey building would have six rooms, a hall, a solar power system and a clean drinking water well, the Department of Information and Culture said in a statement.
Meanwhile, residents of the district voiced satisfaction over construction of the hospital, saying it would help reduce the number of malnutrition cases among children.
Parchaman is a remote and mountainous district located 300 kilometres from the centre of Farah province. The local population faces significant challenges not only in healthcare, but also in education, agriculture, telecommunications, electricity, and road infrastructure.
