PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Foreign ministers from Afghanistan, Pakistan and China will hold tripartite talks in Beijing on Tuesday (tomorrow).
The three-way discussions on regional peace and security come days after a military standoff between Pakistan and India.
Issues of mutual interest, including regional stability and cooperation, would figure at the meeting, a statement from the Foreign Office said.
Afghanistan’s acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, who is currently in Iran to attend the Tehran Dialogue Forum, is expected to arrive in Beijing tomorrow.
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, who leaves today for Beijing, will meet his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on.
The evolving situation in South Asia and its implications for peace and stability would be the agenda, the Foreign Office added.
The trilateral dialogue comes more than a week after US-brokered ceasefire between Pakistan and India. China supported Pakistan, its longtime strategic ally, during the confrontation.
