KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 10 people have died following the collapse of a stone quarry in Indonesia’s West Java province, according to media reports.
The incident took place early Friday at the Gunung Kuda mining site in Cirebon, Al Jazeera reported.
Footage from the site shows excavators clearing debris while emergency personnel transport victims in body bags to ambulances.
The National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB) confirmed the death toll but did not disclose the number of those still missing.
The collapse also buried heavy machinery, including three excavators, complicating the rescue efforts.
Cirebon district police chief Sumarni said that a dozen injured people had already been rescued from the debris during the intensive search effort.
