KABUL (Pajhwok): Tech billionaire Elon Musk has strongly criticised President Donald Trump’s flagship tax and spending bill, calling it a “disgusting abomination.”
“I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination,” Musk posted on X. “Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.”
According to the reports, the budget—passed by the House of Representatives last month—includes multi-trillion dollar tax breaks, increased defence spending, and provisions allowing the US government to borrow more money.
In a series of follow-up posts, Musk outlined his objections, warning that the proposed spending and tax cuts would dramatically inflate the US national debt.
“It will massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion (!!!) and burden American citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt,” he wrote. In another post, he added, “Congress is making America bankrupt.”
According to CNN, when asked about Musk’s criticism during a press briefing on Tuesday afternoon, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said: “The President already knows where Elon Musk stood on this bill.”
“It doesn’t change the President’s opinion — this is one big, beautiful bill and he is sticking to it,” she added.
Musk recently stepped down from his advisory role in the administration after 129 days. His team, known as “Doge”, had been tasked with identifying cost-cutting measures.
