Afghanistan seek stronger ties with China, South Asia

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs, Maulvi Abdul Salam Hanafi, has said that Afghanistan is keen to expand cooperation with China and South Asian countries.

He emphasized that, due to its strategic geographical location, Afghanistan can serve as a vital bridge connecting Central, South, and East Asia.

Hamdullah Fitrat, Deputy Spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, wrote on X that Maulvi Hanafi participated in and delivered a speech at the 9th China-South Asia Expo (CSA), held in Kunming, China, during his official visit.

Hanafi described the China-South Asia Expo as an important platform for fostering economic, cultural, and political cooperation among regional countries.

He noted that China, as a global economic power, has laid a strong foundation for regional development and progress through initiatives like the Belt and Road.

He reiterated Afghanistan’s interest in enhancing collaboration with China and South Asian nations in sectors such as mining, energy, transit, technology, and trade.

Hanafi underlined Afghanistan’s potential to play a key role as a regional connector due to its unique location.

He also reaffirmed that Afghanistan does not permit any individual or group to use its territory to threaten others. The country remains committed to non-interference in the internal affairs of other nations and expects the same in return.

Hanafi expressed hope that the China-South Asia Expo will further strengthen and expand economic and trade relations among countries in the region and beyond.
