JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A young man reportedly addicted to drugs has committed suicide in the Surkhrod district of eastern Nangarhar province, police said on Sunday.
In a statement, police headquarters said the incident took place in Sayaf family area of Surkhrod district on Saturday.
The statement reads: “A 23-year-old man, originally from the Garikhel area of Pachiragam district and currently residing in the mentioned area of Surkhrod, who was addicted to narcotics and mentally unstable, hanged himself to death with a rope in his room.”
According to the statement, at the time of the incident, no one was present with him, and his wife had been taken away by her in-laws for some time.
Suicide is strictly prohibited in Islam and is considered a major sin. Religious scholars emphasize that individuals should not resort to taking their own lives, even in the face of life’s challenges.
