FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): Two children have been killed and a third injured when an unexploded rocket shell detonated in western Ghor province, an official said on Wednesday.
Maulvi Abdul Rahman Badri, spokesman for the Ghor police, said the incident occurred on Tuesday morning in the Band-i-Bain area of Ferozkoh, the provincial capital.
According to Badri, the shell was a remnant of past conflicts and exploded when the children, while playing, attempted to move it.
He added that the victims were nomadic children who had been grazing livestock on the nearby mountain slopes.
It is worth noting that unexploded ordnance left behind from previous wars has repeatedly claimed the lives of children in Ghor province.
