Kabul (Pajhwok): Following Russia’s recognition of Afghanistan’s Islamic Emirate (IEA), China welcomed the decision and emphasized Beijing’s commitment to expanding country ’s engagement with the international community while maintaining strong diplomatic ties.
Russia announced it had accepted the credentials of the new Afghan ambassador, becoming the first country to officially recognize the Islamic Emirate.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated: “We believe that the official recognition of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan will accelerate the development of constructive bilateral cooperation between our countries in various fields.”
Following Russia’s recognition of the Islamic Emirate, China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning welcomed the move during a press conference today (Friday).
She said that her country supports increasing the level of interaction between Afghanistan and the international community.
She added that Beijing believes Afghanistan should not remain isolated from the international community and, according to her, diplomatic relations between Beijing and Kabul have never been severed despite the current situation.
