KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 51 people, including 15 children, have been confirmed dead and some others missing following flash floods in Texas, the United States, media reports said on Sunday.
According to Associated Press: “The destructive, fast-moving waters rose 26 feet (8 meters) on the Guadalupe River in just 45 minutes before daybreak Friday, washing away homes and vehicles”.
It said the danger was not over as rains continued pounding communities outside San Antonio on Saturday and flash flood warnings and watches remained in effect.
At least 43 people, including 15 children, have been confirmed dead following flash floods in Texas, Reuters reported.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott said the effort is continuing for other tourists and local residents who are still missing. According to him, the exact number of missing people is not yet known.
Officials said the death toll is likely to rise as areas beyond the main disaster site have also been affected by the floods.
