Hindukush Strikers win Wakhan T20 cup title

KABUL (Pajhwok): Hindukush Strikers clinched the Wakhan T20 Cup title after defeating Pamir Legends in the final match by one wicket at the Kunduz Cricket Stadium.

The Pamir Legends won the toss and opted to bat first in the final on Monday. However, they were off to a shocking start losing wickets at regular intervals and posting a modest target of 98 runs. Noor-ur-Rahman was the only notable performer with the bat, contributing 31 runs, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) wrote on its Facebook page.

For Hindukush Strikers, Dawlat Zadran, Abdullah Tarakhil and Tariq Stanikzai each picked up two wickets, keeping the pressure on the batting side.

In response, Hindukush Strikers chased down the target in the final over, losing 9 wickets with just one ball remaining.

Zubaid Akbari top-scored for Hindukush with 26 runs.

For Pamir Legends, Mohammadullah Logari, Arab Gul Moman  and Bilal Sami also took two wickets each.

The tournament began on June 28, featuring four teams Hindukush Strikers, Pamir Legends, Mahipar Stars and Maiwand Champions.

Hindukush remained unbeaten in all six of their matches, while Pamir Legends secured three wins to reach the final.

Dawlat Zadran was awarded Player of the Match for his all-round performance.

Zubaid Akbari was declared best batsman of the tournament with 167 runs and Yama Arab as best bowler with 11 wickets.
