Roads costing 24m afs put into use in Ghazni

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Three roads measuring 1.8-kilometers have been completed and put into service in southern Ghazni province, an official said on Thursday.

Head of sectorial for Municipality Maulvi Fazl Ahmad Madani said at a ceremony  that the three roads were constructed in fourth and fifth districts of Arbaba and Tawhid Abad areas.

He said these projects consumed 24 million afghanis funded by the World Bank and technical works were implemented by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).

The roads were concreted and each has 600 meters length and six meters width, he added.

According to Madani, the projects were completed in three months and officially put into operation today.

“These roads are among the most important routes in Ghazni city, with thousands of people, students, and patients traveling on them daily”: Haji Sharif, a tribal elder of Arbaba area.

Already, UNOPS has begun construction of a number of other roads and streets in Ghazni city.
