KABUL (Pajhwok): Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, is scheduled to visit Kabul on Thursday (today) to sign the Framework Agreement on a Joint Feasibility Study for the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (UAP) Railway Project.
According to a statement issued by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the foreign minister will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including the Minister for Railways, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister/Special Representative for Afghanistan, and the Secretary of the Ministry of Railways.
The UAP Railway Project aims to establish a railway link connecting Uzbekistan with Pakistan via Afghanistan, providing Central Asian states with access to Pakistani seaports.
The initiative is expected to enhance regional trade and transit, contributing to economic growth, development, and regional stability.
Ishaq Dar’s visit highlights Pakistan’s strong commitment to the successful implementation of the UAP Railway Project. The signing of the Framework Agreement in Kabul marks a significant step forward in the project’s realization.
During his visit, the Foreign Minister is also expected to meet with Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister and call on the Acting Prime Minister to discuss bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international developments.
