Man killed in Badakhshan clash, no Chinese involved

FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): An individual has been killed following a physical clash between workers and owners of two gold washing workshops in northeastern Badakhshan province, an official said on Wednesday.

Police spokesman Ehsanullah Kamgar said the incident occurred three days ago.

He said: “Abdul Waris, son of Damla Nasruddin, was killed in a clash between miners of gold washing workshops belonging to Damla Nasruddin and prosecutor Mohammad Hashim in Aweez village of Shahr-e-Bozorg district”.

He emphasized that rumors circulating that four foreign nationals, including Chinese citizens, were killed were “pure lies” and not true.

Some sources had claimed that at least eight people, including four Chinese nationals, were killed in a clash at a gold mine in the Shahr-e-Bozorg district.
