KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghan national cricket team all-rounder Mohammad Nabi has donated one million afghanis in cash to Afghan returnees from Iran through his charitable organization, the Nabi Charity Foundation.
In a post on his Facebook page, Nabi wrote: “Today, through my charitable foundation — the Nabi Charity Foundation — I distributed one million afghanis in assistance to Afghan returnees from Iran. This marks the beginning of our aid efforts, and God willing, this support will continue.”
On Saturday, Nabi said he visited a returnee camp in Kabul to assess the conditions firsthand, describing the situation as dire and deeply concerning.
He urged Afghan businessmen to step up and support the returnees, stressing the need for solidarity in these difficult times.
“I call on Afghanistan’s neighboring countries to end the mistreatment of Afghan refugees and to treat them in accordance with the principles of good neighborliness and international migration laws,” he added.
In recent weeks, Iran has intensified the deportation of Afghan refugees. More than 700,000 Afghans have returned to the country over the past month alone.
