PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): A day-long marital arts competition was held among 160 athletes from Paktia, Paktika, Khost and Ghazni provinces, hosted by central Logar province.
Logar Sports and Physical Training Director Eng. Muzamil Neemzai told Pajhwok Afghan News the contests were organised under the auspices of the National Olympic Committee, with Logar as the host.
He added that the event was aimed at promoting coordination among athletes in the southeastern zone, enhancing their capacity and identifying top performers.
According to him, the National Olympic Committee is striving to hold similar competitions in other provinces of the southeastern zone as well.
Meanwhile, one of the participants, Lotfullah, told Pajhwok that such competitions could strengthen ties among athletes at provincial and zonal levels and enhance their capabilities.
He added that the National Olympic Committee needs to address the challenges faced by athletes in the southeastern zone.
At the conclusion of the competition, gifts and certificates of appreciation were awarded to the top athletes.
