KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has dismissed rumours about the closure of its office in Jalalabad city, clarifying that it has been relocated to another part of the city after the lease on its current premises expired.
Last week, claims circulated on social media suggesting the UNAMA office in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, had been shut down.
UNAMA wrote on its Facebook page today that the lease for the building housing its eastern regional office had come to an end, prompting its relocation within Jalalabad city.
“As we are in the process of moving the office, we continue to carry out our mandate in an orderly manner without any disruption,” the organisation noted.
UNAMA confirmed that the public could still contact the office through its existing telephone numbers and addresses.
