3 wizards detained in Balkh, Faryab

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Vice and Virtue and Complaints (MoVVC) says its muhtasibs (morality officers) have arrested three individuals on charges of practicing witchcraft in northern Balkh and Faryab provinces.

In a statement, MoVVC said its morality officers detained three skilled wizards in the two provinces on Wednesday.

The statement read: “In the first case, two skilled and deceptive sorcerers in Zari district of Balkh province were arrested by muhtasibin in cooperation with security forces along with equipment used in magical activities, including special books for sorcery. After completing the investigation, they were introduced to judicial organs for legal prosecution”.

According to the ministry, in the second case, a person named Sayed Abdul Kabir was arrested in Faryab while performing magic rituals.

Officials responsible for promoting good morals in these two provinces explained the arrested individuals were creating discord among families through their actions, and added combating witchcraft, deceiving people, and ideological deviations are among their priorities.
