KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghan national taekwondo player Mohsin Rezaei has defeated his Kazakh opponent in the World Taekwondo Open Championships, advancing to the next round.
The Afghanistan National Taekwondo Federation said on its Facebook page on Thursday that Rezaei overcame his Kazakh rival, Viktor, in straight sets over two rounds to secure his place in the next stage of the tournament.
The championships kicked off today in Kazakhstan, with 13 Afghan athletes competing in both youth and senior categories.
The senior category contests are being held today, while the youth matches are scheduled for tomorrow.
