Logar Mines and Petroleum director Maulvi Naqib Ahmad Furqani told a ceremony in this regard that the plant had been set up by ‘Sur Ghar Zabul’ company in the Shikar Qala area.
According to him, the plant has the capacity to process 100 tons of chromite on average daily.
Furqani said the company also received a contract from the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum to extract chromite from a five-square-kilometer area in the Shikar Qala area of Mohammad Agha district two years ago.
So far, he added, 300 million afghanis had been submitted to the government treasury from this mine.
Speaking on the occasion, Logar Deputy Governor Maulvi Mohammad Anwar Dinparwar said that the establishment of such factories would not only increase the government’s revenue from the mining sector, but also create jobs for hundreds of people.
He added that previously chromite stones from Logar were transported abroad for processing.
According to officials, the extraction of five precious stone mines in Logar has begun, with hundreds of millions of afghanis going to the government treasury during the past few years.
