LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): A road has been constructed and inaugurated at a cost of more than $1.5 million in Babaji district of southern Helmand province, an official said on Thursday.
Maulvi Mohammad Qasim Riaz, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the road, built to proper standards, is 10.5 kilometres long.
He added that the construction of this road would not only make people’s daily lives easier, but also play an important role in agriculture, trade, education services and overall economic development.
The head of the Road Construction Committee, Sheikh Maulvi Abdul Wali Agha, said the road had been built at a cost of $1.75 million by the provincial administration.
He noted that all construction work was carried out in line with engineering standards and that the project was closely monitored throughout its implementation.
