Iftikhar Zaitoon team wins Ghazni futsal tournament

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): The Spring Futsal Cup, featuring 32 teams, has concluded in southern Ghazni province with Iftikhar Zaitoon team emerging champions.

Head of Physical Education and Sports Bilal Muajeed told Pajhwok Afghan News that the first round of the tournament lasted one month and organized at the Ghazna Bastan gymnasium in Nawabad village in coordination with the Futsal Federation and the Physical Education and Sports Department. The event ended today.

In the final match, Iftikhar Zaitoon defeated Padida Istiqlal 2-1 to claim the championship.

He said the tournament was aimed at creating an atmosphere of friendship, love, and brotherhood between the teams, to promote the sport of futsal, and to keep youth away from drugs.

Hasib, an athlete, told Pajhwok Afghan News that he was happy that the futsal tournament involving 32 teams was successfully held in the province.

Such competitions could enhance the experience of athletes, he said. He asked the department concerned to provide facilities for athletes in Ghazni in various fields.

Previously, competitions between 10 football league teams had begun in Ghazni.
