Student killed, 4 injured in Wardak mortar shell blast

MAIDAN SHAHR (Pajhwok): A school student has been killed and four others wounded when a mortar shell exploded in Chak district of central Maidan Wardak province.

According to the Natural Disasters Preparedness Department, the incident occurred on Saturday afternoon in Koz Khwat Lur village. The students had been playing with the unexploded mortar shell when it went off.

A 15-year-old boy died in the blast, while four others, aged between 12 and 16, sustained injuries, the department said in a statement.
