GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): A 10-day friendly snooker tournament, featuring 42 cueists, has concluded in southern Ghazni province, an official said on Tuesday.
Director of Sports and Physical Training, Bilal Mujahid, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the competition was organised in cooperation with the relevant federation and his department.
According to the final standings, Rahmatullah secured first place, Ihsanullah came second, Abdullah finished third and Qudos took fourth position.
Mujahid added that the event was aimed at encouraging young people and promoting the sport of snooker.
Meanwhile, cueists in the province called for more facilities.
One of the players, Pir Mohammad, told Pajhwok: “There are many fans of this game. It is essential to provide proper facilities for us and also create opportunities for participation at the national level so that we can compete.”
Certificates of appreciation and prizes were awarded to the top performers at the closing ceremony.
