Practical work on phase-I of Azizi Group‘s power project soon

KABUL (Pajhwok): Practical work on the first phase of Azizi Group’s 10,000-megawatt power generation project will begin in the near future, the head of the company has announced.

Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar met national entrepreneur Mirwais Azizi, CEO of Azizi Energy, along with his technical team today (Wednesday), his office said in a statement.

During the meeting, Azizi presented a progress report on the mega project to the deputy premier.

He said that following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, his teams— in coordination with technical experts from the relevant ministries— had been dispatched to Baghlan, Balkh, Jawzjan, Herat and Bamyan provinces.

Over the past two weeks, the teams have carried out preliminary surveys and collected technical data for several projects.

According to Azizi, the 10,000-megawatt initiative has been divided into three phases, with the first phase designed to generate 4,000 megawatts.

He added that practical implementation of the existing projects under this phase would soon begin in coordination with the ministries concerned and agencies.

Azizi also shared his requests related to the project with the deputy premier.

For his part, Mullah Baradar, accompanied by heads of the relevant ministries and agencies, assured full support and commitment to meeting those requests.

At the end of the meeting, a joint committee—comprising representatives from the relevant ministries, agencies and Azizi Energy— was formed to oversee and monitor implementation of the power projects.

The committee will regularly report back to the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs.
