Israeli airstrike kills Houthi PM, ministers

KABUL (Pajhwok): Houthi Prime Minister Ahmed al-Rahawi and several other ministers have been killed in an Israeli airstrike on Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, reports said.

Al-Rahawi, who headed the Houthi-controlled government in Yemen, was killed on Thursday along with “several” ministers during a strike on the city, the group confirmed in a statement on Saturday, according to Al Jazeera.

Israeli media, citing a source, reported that the strike targeted the entire Houthi cabinet, including the prime minister and 12 ministers. However, the exact number of casualties has not been confirmed.

Mahdi al-Mashat, chairman of the Houthi Supreme Political Council, vowed retaliation. “We shall take vengeance, and we shall forge from the depths of wounds a victory,” he declared.

Addressing Palestinians in Gaza, Mashat reiterated support: “Our stance is steadfast and will remain so until the aggression ceases and the siege is lifted, no matter the scale of the challenge.”
