KABUL (Pajhwok): The much-awaited 2025 Asia Cup cricket tournament is all set to kick off today (Tuesday) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with Afghanistan taking on Hong Kong in the opening match at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium.
The tournament, featuring eight teams, is being hosted by the UAE.
India, Pakistan, UAE and Oman have been placed in Group A, while Group B consists of Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Hong Kong.
The curtain-raiser between Afghanistan and Hong Kong would commence 7:30 local time in Abu Dhabi.
Arch-rivals Pakistan and India, who faced each other in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, will meet on September 14 at the Dubai Cricket Stadium.
India will launch its campaign on September 10 against the UAE in Dubai while Pakistan will play its opening game against Oman on September 12.
Sri Lanka had won the previous edition of the T20 Asia Cup.
