Mullah Baradar asks world to end curbs on Afghanistan

KABUL (Pajhwok): Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Bardar has called on the international community to end the sanctions imposed on Afghanistan.

During a visit to the earthquake-hit areas in eastern Kunar province, Mullah Baradar said lifting the sanctions would eliminate obstacles in providing aid to the earthquake affected Afghans and resolving their economic problems.

Hamdullah Fitrat, the deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, wrote on his X-Page that the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs traveled to Kunar today to visit the earthquake-hit areas.

He wrote that during his meeting with the affected people, Mullah Baradar expressed his condolences over the huge disaster and said that it was the third time in the past four years that strong earthquakes caused heavy financial and life losses to the countrymen.

He added: “Despite limited resources, the Islamic Emirate has been able to provide timely assistance to the victims.”

He assured the victims of the Kunar earthquake that the Islamic Emirate stood by them.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that all Emirati officials had been directed to collect aid and distribute it transparently to the deserving families.

He called on traders, investors, and charitable institutions to continue their assistance to the victims of the Kunar earthquake.

Baradar also called on the international community to end the sanctions imposed on Afghanistan in these difficult circumstances, so that the obstacles to the process of providing aid to the affected Afghans could be eliminated and their economic problems could be resolved.
