KABUL (Pajhwok): Security forces have recovered and seized a large number of weapons and ammunition from a vehicle on the Kandahar–Spin Boldak highway and arrested two individuals, the Ministry of National Defense (MoND) said on Monday.
In a statement, the MoND said without giving further details: “The seized arms and ammunition include M4 rifles, Kalashnikovs, grenades, pistols, 2,868 rounds of various bullets, five night-vision binoculars, seven M4 scopes, one mine detector, 34 different types of magazines and 731 spare parts of weapons.”
According to the statement, the haul was recovered by the Counter-Intelligence Department of the 205th Al-Badr Corps, based on an intelligence tip-off.
The source added that the arrested men would be handed over to judicial and legal authorities, pending an initial investigation.
