KABUL (Pajhwok): Zalmay Khalilzad has warned that continued violence between Pakistani security forces and Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has caused heavy casualties and that Islamabad is mistaken in believing a military solution is viable.
In a post on X, the former US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation wrote: “Violence between Pakistan’s security forces and the Pakistani Taliban has resulted in the deaths of a significant number of security personnel and civilians.”
He added: “The Pakistani establishment is mistaken if it believes there is a military solution to this challenge. I do not see a credible strategy.”
Khalilzad stressed that the time has come for Islamabad to adopt a political approach and engage in dialogue.
He also suggested that Afghanistan should support Pakistan in any future negotiations.
