HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Municipality officials in western Herat province say a portion of a road has been destroyed and removed after being built of poor quality in the seventh district of Herat city.
They emphasized strict supervision of development projects and said that based on technical investigations, the poor quality asphalt surface constructed by a contracting company was destroyed and removed.
Spokesman for Herat Municipality Mohammad Nasir Armal, told Pajhwok Afghan News based on the inspections and monitoring of the technical departments of the municipality, the poor quality part of the first layer of asphalt on the southern lane of the road from Khwaja Kala to Hawz Karbas in the seventh district has been destroyed.
He explained the first layer of the road was destroyed in the presence of Herat Mayor Mullah Nematullah Hassan, Technical and Professional Director for the Municipality Eng. Mohammad Ayouub Saiful Jihad and some officials of relevant departments.
According to Armel, during this review, the mayor directed relevant officials to prevent any violations and negligence by the companies implementing municipal projects and to monitor the work process of development projects seriously and comprehensively to ensure the quality of projects.
Some residents welcomed the municipality’s move to demolish and remove the poor-quality asphalt work of the road and added that serious monitoring of projects can prevent development funds from being wasted.
