Ex-lawmaker Fariba Kakar’s husband killed in Kandahar

KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): The husband of former Wolesi Jirga member Fariba Ahmadi Kakar has been killed in the capital of southern Kandahar province, police have confirmed.

A reliable source told Pajhwok Afghan News that Haji Dawood Shah, the husband of Kakar, had recently returned to Afghanistan from Canada and was staying at his residence in the Madad Chowk area of the city’s 2nd police district.

According to the source, he was killed at his home on Tuesday, and his funeral was held on Wednesday. No further details have yet been made available.

Police spokesman Mullah Asadullah Jamshid also confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation is currently underway.

Kakar, who previously represented Kandahar in the Wolesi Jirga under the former government, is currently residing in Canada.
