Intra- tribal hostility: Bamyan clash leaves 10 injured

BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): At least 10 people, including a young woman, have been injured in an armed clash stemming from “intra-tribal hostilities” in central Bamyan province, officials said on Monday.

Governor spokesman Sabour Farzan Saighani told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident happened last night in Mohammad Kicha village of Sheibar district, where firearms and sharp objects were used. Four injured are in critical condition.

He said Governor Maulvi Abdullah Sarhadi rushed to the area, took control of the situation, restrained the rivals, and ordered the urgent transfer of injured to provincial hospital.

According to Saighani, the attack occurred when villagers were offering evening prayers at a mosque and armed men carrying Kalashnikovs, knives and iron rods stormed in, shooting and assaulting worshippers.

He explained six suspects had been identified as the main perpetrators and judicial investigations were underway.
