KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan National Standardisation Authority (ANSA) says that 24 tonnes of low-quality steel imported from Turkmenistan have been returned to that country via Aqina Port.
The authority stated on its X on Tuesday that its technical team at Aqina Port identified a shipment of steel, totalling 24 tonnes, as non-compliant with national standards and subsequently returned it to Turkmenistan.
ANSA emphasised that monitoring imported goods and ensuring their quality are among its key priorities and no substandard products will be allowed entry into the country’s markets.
The source added that the authority remains committed to conducting thorough assessments of all imported goods in order to uphold quality and health standards, while ensuring proper implementation of national standards.
