Quadrilateral meeting held on Afghanistan in New York

KABUL (Pajhwok): In a quadrilateral meeting, the foreign ministers of China, Iran, Pakistan and Russia have stressed they support an independent, stable, “free from terrorism, war and drugs” Afghanistan.

Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported that the meeting took place on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly session in New York and discussed the situation in Afghanistan.

The four sides stressed their support for an independent, unified and stable “free from terrorism, war and drugs” Afghanistan.

They called for increased economic interactions with Afghanistan to strengthen and support the country’s economy and improve the conditions of the country’s people.

The foreign ministers also underlined the importance of continuing humanitarian support to Afghanistan and called on the international community to provide more emergency humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people.

They urged the Afghan authorities to take effective and concrete measures to implement Afghanistan’s international commitments to combat terrorism.

They also urged the international community and donor countries to provide adequate, regular and sustainable financial support and other necessary assistance to returning Afghan refugees.
