PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Construction work on buildings for 14 schools has been completed and the facilities put into use with financial support from the Ministry of Education and international organizations in central Logar province.
Education Department spokesman Shahpur Arab told Pajhwok Afghan News the projects included construction of modern and well-equipped school buildings, provision of sanitation facilities, and installation of solar power and clean water systems.
He said the buildings, completed in six months at a cost of 160 million afghanis, were officially handed over today in Pul-i-Alam city and six districts.
According to him, the completion of these projects enabled about 12,000 students to find access to safe and standard learning environment.
Arab explained with financial support of UNICEF and other international partners, construction work on 61 additional development projects worth 44 million afghanis has begun and will be completed within the next three months.
Sayed Jawan, a Pul-i-Alam resident, expressed happiness over the construction of the buildings, but stressed thousands of students in remote districts of Logar still studied in the open without proper facilities, urging further attention to their needs.
