KABUL (Pajhwok): The General Directorate of Traffic has warned vehicle repair workshops and related companies against making unauthorized changes to vehicles—including engine replacements, color alterations, or gas conversions—or face legal consequences.
The Directorate added that no technical workshop is allowed to repair vehicles damaged in medium or major traffic accidents without an order from the central office of the Traffic Police, which must be issued based on a court decision. However, vehicles that have sustained damage in minor traffic accidents are exempt from this rule.
According to the source, no technical workshop has the right to convert vehicles to gas systems without the permission of the central office of the Traffic Police, nor are they allowed to dismantle or modify vehicles on their own.
The notice also stated that technical workshops are not permitted to alter the original tonnage (weight and capacity) of vehicles or change or remove the engine and chassis numbers.
Painting and wiring workshops were also informed that they are not allowed to change vehicle colors or install laser lights or other decorative indicators without permission from the Traffic Directorate.
The source wrote that changing the body, modifying the model, or installing “jungla” (metal frames or protective bars) on vehicles without authorization from the General Directorate of Traffic Police and the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation is strictly prohibited.
The notice further stated that no manufacturing company of motorcycle or rickshaw parts is allowed to assemble or package such vehicles in shops, garages, or roadside areas without certified technical workshops.
At the end of the notice, it was emphasized that these regulations must be strictly enforced, and violators will face legal action without the right to file complaints.
