Afghanistan’s exports jump 30 percent: Economic Deputy

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Office of Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs says Afghanistan’s exports increased by 30 percent and trade volume with foreign countries reached $6.783 billion during the first six months of 1404 year, showing a 30 percent rise.

In a statement, the Economic Deputy cited figures from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and said the increase in exports reflected improved economic situation, growth in domestic production, and the Islamic Emirate’s serious focus on the trade sector.

It said: “Afghanistan’s export level has increased by 30 percent. The MoCI says during the first six months of the current year, Afghanistan’s trade reached $6.783 billion, showing a 30 percent increase compared to the last six months of the previous year.”

In past four years, the IEA has implemented economy-focused policies, facilitated exports, strengthened national production, and enforced supportive policies for investors and traders, creating a favorable environment for economic growth, the report added.

In the last six months, Afghanistan exported goods worth $748 million to Pakistan, India, UAE, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Iran, China, and Iraq, the MoCI explained.

Currently, Afghanistan maintains trade relations with more than 80 countries, and over the past four years, the number of production factories has increased from 3,500 to 6,500.

It claimed with the increase in factories, production has grown significantly, creating direct and indirect job opportunities for many people.
