KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): A journalist from the Paktia National Radio Television branch has been killed and another wounded in firing by Pakistani forces near the Durand Line in southeastern Khost province, a local official said on Wednesday.
A government source in Khost told Pajhwok Afghan News that Abdul Ghafoor Abid, a journalist with Paktia National Radio Television, was killed, and another journalist, Tawab Arman, was injured when Pakistani forces opened fire near the Durand Line in the Palotso area of Zazi Maidan district on Tuesday night.
According to the source, the two journalists, along with several colleagues, had gone to the area to cover retaliatory attacks launched by Afghan defense forces against Pakistan along the Durand Line when they came under fire from the opposite side.
The source added that the injured journalist was evacuated from the area by Afghan forces, and efforts are underway to recover the body of the slain journalist.
