Millions protest Trump polices across major US cities

KABUL (Pajhwok): Millions of Americans took to the streets in cities including Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Washington D.C. and Houston to protest against the policies of US President Donald Trump, NBC News reported on Sunday.

Demonstrators marched with slogans such as “No to the King,” “We Want the Whole Government to Work,” and “Make America Good Again.”

Protesters criticized Trump’s policies on immigration, employment, the prosecution of political opponents and the deployment of the National Guard to several US cities, calling them a threat to democracy.

Organizers said around seven million people participated in more than 2,700 rallies held across the United States on Saturday.

The demonstrations reflected public concerns over Trump’s actions, including the pursuit of political rivals, the use of military forces to suppress migrants and the deployment of the National Guard to multiple cities.

Earlier, Trump defended the National Guard deployments, saying they were intended to combat crime and protect immigration officials.
