Salang highway remains open to traffic until next notice

KABUL (Pajhwok): The planned closure of the Salang Highway has been postponed and the vital route will remain open to both passenger and cargo vehicles until further notice, a reliable source said on Sunday.

According to the source, travelers can use the Salang route without any concerns.

Earlier, the Ministry of Public Works had announced that the highway would be closed from October 19 to November 1 for concreting and asphalting work inside the Salang Tunnel.

The ministry had advised citizens to use alternative routes, including the Doshi–Bamyan road, during the construction period.
