MAIDAN SHAHR (Pajhwok): A young man was killed when an old mortar shell explosion in the capital of central Maidan Wardak province.
In a statement, the Natural Disasters Preparedness Department said the blast occurred in the jurisdiction 1st police district of Maidan Shahr, the provincial capital.
It said the victim had found the mortar shell, which later exploded, killing him on the spot.
The statement identified the deceased as Suhail, originally a resident of Nerkh district, who was living in Maidan Shahr at the time of the incident.
