KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC) has underlined the value and importance of the media, reaffirming the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s (IEA) support for media institutions.
The ministry said that during recent events, Afghanistan’s media outlets stood alongside other parts of the system and gave an appropriate response to the enemy.
A meeting was held on Sunday at the Government Information and Media Center (GMIC) to express appreciation for the media’s efforts during recent developments.
The event was attended by senior officials from the MoIC, heads of news agencies, representatives of media organizations, and delegates from visual and audio outlets.
Hayatullah Muhajir Farahi, Deputy Minister for Publications at the MoIC, highlighted the role of the media in the country—particularly during the recent tensions between Afghanistan and the Pakistani military regime—saying that media institutions stood united with other sectors of the system and responded appropriately to the enemy.
“Our country has only recently emerged from crises and instability,” he said. “The IEA is committed to fully protecting the borders, as well as Islamic and national values, and to providing facilities for the people in various sectors.”
Farahi urged officials and journalists from both government and private media outlets to continue close cooperation and maintain unity with other parts of the system so that Afghanistan can stand on an equal footing and compete with other nations in all fields.
Maulvi Naeemul Haq Haqqani, head of the GMIC, also commended the efforts and dedication of the media during the recent events.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Sher Ahmad Haqqani, Minister of Information and Culture, spoke about the importance and role of the media in the modern era.
He said that full security has been established across the country, and that media outlets, in line with IEA policies, can operate with confidence throughout Afghanistan.
He called on journalists to continue their work within the framework of Islamic and national values and to highlight the country’s progress, describing this as a shared responsibility.
The minister added that the MoIC is ready to provide full cooperation and support to all media outlets in fulfilling these responsibilities, noting that such meetings would continue in the future.
During the meeting, media representatives and journalists described Afghanistan as a shared home for all and pledged to continue standing by the officials of the Islamic system, as they have in the past, in accordance with their Islamic and national duties.
They also discussed the challenges facing the media and presented several recommendations. Officials pledged to take the necessary steps to address the issues and act on the proposed solutions.
