Afghanistan face Thailand in U-17 futsal semifinal today

KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan’s under-17 futsal team will take on Thailand in the semi-final match of the Asian Youth Games on Tuesday.

The Directorate General of Physical Education and Sports wrote on its Facebook page that the match will be held at 8:30 p.m. (local time) in Manama, the capital of Bahrain.

It said eight teams, including Afghanistan, are participating in the Asian Games hosted by Bahrain. Afghanistan are placed in Group A alongside Bahrain, Uzbekistan, and China.

In the group stage, the Afghan futsal team defeated all three opponents — Bahrain, Uzbekistan, and China — to qualify for the semi-finals.

According to NOC, the 3rd Asian Youth Games, hosted by Bahrain, commenced on October 22 and will continue until October 31, featuring athletes from 45 Asian countries competing in various sports.
