Child rescued from kidnappers in Paktia

GARDEZ (Pajhwok): A child has been rescued from kidnappers and a four-member kidnap group arrested in connection with the case in southeastern Paktia province, an official said Thursday.

Police spokesman Muneeb Zadran said the detained group, wearing military uniforms, had abducted the child from the Pir Bagh area of Gardez city.

He said the child was rescued from the kidnappers’ hideout as a result of police efforts and was later handed over to his family.

According to Zadran, police seized one Kalashnikov rifle, two radios, three large and five small mobile phones, and a motorcycle from the arrested individuals.

He explained the detainees would be referred to judicial organs following preliminary investigations.
