MoLSA: No agreement yet reached with Iran on work visas

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MoLSA) says no agreement has been reached with Iran so far regarding the issuance of work visas to Afghans.

The ministry also warned people not to hand over heir documents or money to anyone for this purpose.

In a statement issued today (Thursday), MoLSA said that until an agreement was officially reached with Iran, no individual or company should collect documents or money from people under the pretext of obtaining work visas.

The statement added: “To prevent Afghan workers from facing problems and challenges in Iran as in the past, and to ensure they live and work there with dignity and that their rights are fully protected, the ministry is working to reach an understanding with Iran’s Ministry of Labour, Cooperation, and Social Welfare.”

The ministry also warned that any violation by individuals or travel and pilgrimage companies would be dealt with according to the law.

Earlier, an Iranian delegation during a meeting with the Afghan Minister of Refugees and Repatriations has said 200,000 work visas would be issued to Afghans to resolve the issue of illegal residence.
