GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Security forces have seized about 225 kilograms of opium during a special operation in the Maqur district of southern Ghazni province, an official said on Tuesday.
Police spokesman Abu Khalid Sarhadi told Pajhwok Afghan News that the narcotics were skillfully hidden in a Suzuki truck and discovered during the operation.
“Unfortunately, the driver and smugglers managed to flee the area. It is not yet clear where the drugs were being transported from or to,” he added.
According to Sarhadi, all the seized narcotics are opium, which will be handed over to the Counter-Narcotics Department for further investigation.
A few days earlier, police also seized 17 kilograms of heroin and crystal meth near the Transport Square area of Ghazni City.
